Reception for Emily Worm and Devin Burritt

There will be an Open House at the Library on Saturday, September 11th, from 10am to noon, to say thank you and goodbye to Emily Worm. It will also be an opportunity to welcome Devin Burritt, the new Assistant Director of Youth and Technical Services.

Emily has been the Youth Activities Coordinator at JML for the past two years. Part of her job was to build relationships between the Library and the community to better serve the youth of St George. She also led the Girls and Boys Book Clubs for 5th to 8th graders, and ran a wide variety of  programming for children.
“Over the past year Emily has been stepping up to assist our patrons and staff with their computers, getting on the internet, and downloading audio books,” explains Library Director, Yvonne Gloede.  “She's also updating our website for us, and sending out email newsletters. In response to this need for an increase in services to our patrons the Board renamed the YAC post, expanding it to Assistant Director for Youth and Library Services.”
Devin recently received his Masters of Library and Information Sciences from Kent State University. He served in the Peace Corps in Lesotho, where he taught high school English, developed a sports team and created a community library. When asked why he and his wife are looking forward to the move to Maine, Devin responded, “We were immediately charmed by the close, community feel of St George and taken by the natural beauty of the Midcoast. The Jackson Memorial Library embodies all the great qualities of a small community centered library: friendly faces, a strong sense of unity, and exceptional service. It’ll be a joy to be part of such a team.”
