Should be a Classic - Frindle is on Sharon's Review List

Frindle by Andrew Clements

Nicholas is a really bright boy who enjoys making trouble at school.  Creative trouble, that is.  One day he decides to torment his fifth-grade teacher, Mrs. Granger.  She happens to be just as smart and crafty as he is.  The events that are unleashed quickly spin out of control.  The “game of chess” between the gifted student and the crafty teacher is funny and captivating.  Mrs. Granger turns out to be the teacher with the frightening reputation but the one who is fondly remembered by all her students.  Brian Selznick’s black and white illustrations are the icing on this “should become a classic” first novel.
