Library Cards:

  • Library cards are FREE for St George Residents and property owners and their children who are under the age of 23.
  • Out-of-town patrons may get a one-year renewable library card for an annual $15 fee.

Checking Out, Reserving and Renewing Books

Patrons may check out:

  • Books, tapes, audio books and magazines for 2 weeks.
  • DVDs for 1 week.
  • Video games have a limit of 2 titles at a time.

Renewing Books:

Popular new titles or items that another patron has reserved cannot be renewed.
There are four ways to renew a borrowed item:

  •  log on to the online catalog
  • stop by the library
  • by phoning the library at 207-372-6981 -  after hours, you may leave a message on the Library answering machine.  b
  • by contacting us via email

Reserve books by logging on to the online catalog.

Computer and Internet Use at the Library

The Library offers free un-filtered Internet access and other computer-related services to its patrons. The Board of the Library has adopted the following policies concerning the use of the computer.
Patrons are expected to make appropriate use of the equipment and to show consideration for others. The use of this service is a privilege, not a right, and inappropriate use may result in cancellation of this privilege.
The Library has no control over the information accessed through the Internet, and cannot be held responsible for the quality, accuracy, currency or appropriateness of any information found via the Internet.
Staff Assistance
The staff will provide limited assistance for basic procedures.
Time Limits
There is a 30 minute time limit when others are waiting to use the service. Patrons may sign up in advance for one 30 minute period per day.
A printer is available for public use at a cost of 10¢ per black and white page.
Please check with the librarian before attempting to download anything to the computer. Software installations are generally not allowed, but may be granted an exception based on the librarian's opinion.  
The Library does not offer e-mail accounts. We are happy to help you set up your own email account.
Ethical Use
The Library computer and Internet access may be used for legal and ethical purposes only. Unacceptable uses include, but are not limited to: harassment of other users; tampering with or damaging the Library data, software, or equipment; and unauthorized copying of copyright-protected or licensed material.
Restriction of a child's access is the responsibility of his or her parent or guardian. Children 6 and under must be accompanied by an adult when using the computer.

Photocopies and Printing

A printer is available for public use at a cost of 10¢ per black and white page.
Photocopies cost 10¢/page.
