Youth Programs Next Week

The library will be offering three after school programs for all ages beginning next week. The programs will be held from 3:30-5:30 PM.

On Tuesday, September 17, we will be celebrating International Dot Day.  We will be reading "The Dot" by Peter H. Reynolds and then create dot-related artworks.

On Wednesday, September 18, Alex Brasili from Herring Gut will be teaching us all about seaweed.  We'll learn about identifying different kinds of Maine seaweed and try a seaweed snack!

On Thursday, September 19, we will celebrate International Talk Like a Pirate Day!  Come do some pirate-y activities and games after school.  Ahoy!

After School Programs for Those in Grades 6 and Up

Monday – Friday, 3:30-5:30: Students will have an opportunity to come to the library directly after they are released from school for two hours. Coinciding with the 5,2,1,0 Let’s Go! Program, students will engage in a fun physical activity (often chosen by spinning the Sunny Day / Rainy Day Activity Wheel!), engage in preparing a healthy snack, then get half hour-an hour’s worth of homework help. This structure will always be an option, although other programs may be going on depending on the day.

Tuesday, 4:00 – 6:00: Chess Club! People of all ages and skill levels are welcome to come join in friendly chess game competitions.

Wednesdays, 4:00 – 6:00: All ages are welcome to come join in special programs provided by organizations around the area, including Herring Gut Learning Center, the Coastal Children’s Museum, Merry Spring, local artists and chefs, etc! Programs will be posted as they are scheduled.

Fridays, 4:30 – 6:30: Stuart Randolph will be teaching students in grades 6 and up the Lego Mindstorm robotics program. Please let the library know if you are interested, so we can gauge how many robots we need.
