Deb Armer - Library Director

I moved to midcoast Maine from Denver, CO, in 2015. It feels like a homecoming to me. My husband has family in Rockland, and we have visited often over the years. Many years ago Alan and I spent our honeymoon on Deer Isle, driving from Rochester NY to reach our little piece of heaven on the Maine coast. I am originally a New Yorker from Long Island. I spent my early years clamming on the north shore, sailing in it's small harbors, and swimming on the beaches of the south shore. It's good to be back near salt water again. I got my college degree from Saint Lawrence University in the Adirondacks, and worked in Rochester NY after college, doing medical research at the University of Rochester's Strong Memorial Hospital. Job changes have taken us to Chicago, where we raised our three children, and then on to Denver.

After starting a family, my career aspirations took a turn. I attended Dominican University in the Chicago area, and graduated with a degree in Library Sciences. I have substituted in a small college library, interned in a medical school library, and worked the References Desk at a busy public library. Most of my experience has been on the corporate side. I have managed the research team of a large medical device corporation, and created a Knowledge Center research team at a small Chicago healthcare consulting firm.

I love meeting new people, hearing their stories and sharing experiences. I am forever curious. Besides being an avid reader, I also enjoy birding, sailing, and exploring new places to walk our dog, Dixie. I love independent movies, jigsaw puzzles, and history. I am an enthusiastic genealogist, and collector of antiquarian cabinet card photographs and Real Photo Postcards from 1910-1935.

I'm thrilled to be a part of this amazing group of people here at the Jackson Memorial Library.

Sharon Moskowitz

Although Sharon is a newcomer to the community, having moved to Tenants Harbor just seven months ago, she feels that she has "come home". Before moving here with her husband and two big dogs, Sharon raised three children and taught school for seventeen years in Upstate New York. The opportunity to continue working with children at the special place that is JML is a dream come true. Besides walking with the dogs each day, Sharon loves to get her hands dirty in the garden.  Sharon is now our Youth Services Coordinator.

Beckie Delaney

Beckie is the lead Pre-K instructor for Jackson Memorial Library. She graduated from UMaine Farmington in 2002 and moved to town shortly afterwards, teaching in Warren for the following nine years. She is living with her husband, captain at the Monhegan Boat Line, and 2 school-aged children, both of whom attended the Pre-K program and are the fifth generation to live in their home. Beckie recently received her Early Childhood certificate through the UMaine Online program, adding to her Elementary Education Certificate. She absolutely loves her job, and strives to make each day engaging, educational, and fun. She works with children to establish routines, habits, and skills to make learning at “the Big School” a breeze, all disguised with fun! She enjoys being outdoors, especially by the ocean or in the woods.

Tracy Leavitt

Tracy Leavitt, the JML Pre-K Teacher Assistant has been a St. George resident since 2002, when she moved here shortly after receiving a BA in Communications from St. Joseph's College.  Her daughter, Hannah, was fortunate to have participated for 2 years in the JML Pre-K Program. During that time, Tracy was an active parent volunteer and coordinated many fundraising activities to support the Pre-K program. Working with pre-school aged children in the community is not only fun for Tracy, but truly fulfilling and rewarding as she helps to prepare these students for their future educational years. She and her husband, Chris, have two daughters who attend St. George School. Tracy enjoys attending her daughters' many activities, camping, fly fishing in Western Maine, and biking with her family.
