Summer Literary Series

On Wednesday, June 27 Richard Russo and Kate Russo will kick off our Summer Literary Series.  In what many perceive as a cold digital age, Pulitzer-prize winning author, Richard Russo has teamed up with his daughter, artist Kate Russo, to create Interventions, as their tribute to the printed word. What makes the book truly special is the unusual format – each story is an individually soft-bound volume with a cover illustration by Kate. Framable prints of her paintings accompany each book. Richard and Kate Russo will be reading from their new book at the Ocean View Grange on 435 Port Cylde Road (Rt. 131), Martinsville. The program begins at 5:30.  Books will be available for purchase at the event.

On Tuesday, July 3 Esmeralda Santiago, the best selling author of four books and a screenplay, will be reading from her most recent work, the New York Times best seller, Conquistadora. This program is also part of the fifth annual St. George Literary Series which is held at 5:30 PM at the Ocean View Grange on Route 131 in Martinsville.  Ms. Santiago is the author of the critically acclaimed memoirs “When I Was Puerto Rican”, “Almost A Woman”, and “The Turkish Lover”. She also wrote the screenplay for “Almost A Woman”, which was made into a movie for Masterpiece Theatre. While Ms. Santiago’s books take place mostly in New York and Puerto Rico, they have all been written at her home in Port Clyde.
