Planned Giving

The JML Legacy Circle

What is Planned Giving?

A planned gift is one that becomes effective when your estate is settled sometime in the future. Because this type of gift is arranged now and paid out later, your gift ensures that Jackson Memorial Library will have the financial resources for years to come. This may be as easy as making a bequest from your will or naming JML as the beneficiary of your retirement plan assets or life insurance policy. By giving in this manner, you may be able to make a more substantial and lasting contribution than you had thought possible. Selecting the right planned giving vehicle also allows you to reduce your estate and income taxes, and maximize the financial and tax benefits of your gift. Please consult your financial advisor, tax attorney and/or estate planner in determining which of these options is best for you and for up-to- date information on the tax implications of each.

If you plan to give to JML by one of the options below, please consider notifying us so that we can recognize your generosity.  By making a planned gift or bequest, you become a member of the JML Legacy Circle and, if you so choose, will be recognized in our annual report.

The Jackson Memorial Library Legacy Circle

Members of the JML Legacy Circle are individuals and families who recognize the importance of the library to the community of St. George, and have made plans to support it in a long-term and lasting way. By recognizing the library in their estate plans, Legacy Circle members help to sustain and increase financial support through the library’s Reserve Fund. This fund supplements regular fundraising efforts and helps to ensure that the library can continually improve its services, collections, equipment, facilities and programs.

For more information about how your planned giving can make a significant contribution to the library community, please call JML Board Member Betsy Welch at 372-0787.
