Charitable Remainder Trust

Trust set up during your lifetime that pays you or beneficiaries, with remainder gifted to JML

You can transfer cash, securities or other appreciated property into a trust. Depending on how it is set up, the trust then pays to you or to beneficiaries you name either: 1) a percentage of the market value of the assets, re-valued annually, or 2) fixed annual payments.  When the trust ends, the principal passes to Jackson Memorial Library.

Testamentary Charitable Remainder Trust

Trust set up in your will that pays your heirs, with remainder gifted to JML

You can write a will or revocable trust directing a bequest to the Jackson Memorial Library.  You provide that the bequest first create a life-income gift benefiting your heirs. After their income interest terminates, the remaining balance in the gift passes to JML.

Charitable Lead Trust

Trust set up during your lifetime that pays JML annually, with remainder gifted to your heirs

You can contribute securities or other income-generating assets into trust established for a specific term. The trust makes fixed annual payments to JML for a specified period of time.  When the trust terminates, the remaining principal is paid to you, or more commonly, your heirs.
