Spring Birds

Jackson Memorial Library in Tenants Harbor will host a presentation on spring birds Friday, June 19 at 10:00 am.

Bill Goodwill, a self described lifelong birder and continually learning naturalist, will give a brief lecture which will be followed by short hike at the Fort Point trail off Route 131 in St George. Since the trail may be wet, waterproof shoes are recommended.

The event is free and open to the public.

Author James L. Nelson To Speak

James L. Nelson, author of maritime historical novels including George Washington’s Secret Navy and Benedict Arnold’s Navy, will speak at Jackson Memorial Library at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 22.

Nelson is a dynamic and entertaining speaker who has spoken to hundreds of groups around the country and has been featured on the History Channel, Discovery Channel and C-Span’s Book TV. A former professional sailor, his writing covers a wide range of America’s maritime heritage from piracy in Colonial Virginia to the naval action of the Civil War.

Going Green Eco-Panel

Sunday, March 29 at 2:00 p.m. Jackson Memorial Library in Tenants Harbor will host a panel discussion of “green” issues. Included will be everything from sustainable architecture and living off the grid to raising one’s own food and protecting local agriculture.

Starting Seeds from Scratch

John Fromer, Master GardenerJackson Memorial Library will celebrate the first day of spring by presenting a class on starting gardens from seed. On Friday, March 20 at 10:00 a.m. John Fromer from Appleton Ridge Flower and Vegetable Farm will be conducting a slideshow and presentation with ample time for questions and discussion.
