Nantucket Lightship Basket Raffle

Longtime Tenants Harbor resident and artisan, John Shea has created this exquisite Nantucket Lightship Basket and generously donated it to the Library for our raffle. Tickets are $5 each. All proceeds benefit the Library. The winner will be announced at the Library's final Literary Night on Thursday, August 26, 2010.

Lectures by Dr. Alden Josey

Join Dr. Alden Josey for two lectures, The Symbolic Life: Mystery and Meaning on Thursday, August 19th and Wednesday, August 25th at 7:30pm. Come prepared to be introduced to your own unconscious.

JML Receives $3000 grant from Maine Community Foundation

Maine Community Foundation has awarded a $3000 grant to the Library's Kindergarten Readiness Program. The grant is made with funds from the Knox County Fund and the Emily and William Muir Community Fund.

The Pre-K Program, which begins in the Fall, will be on Monday and Tuesday mornings from 10am to 11:30am. It is a free program for 3 to 5 year olds. For more information please contact the Library.
 

Lee Smith Reading on August 16th

Lee Smith, author of twelve novels, will read on August 16th at Blueberry Cove Camp on Hart's Neck Road in Tenants Harbor. There will be a brief reception at 5:00pm and the reading will begin about 5:20.

Lee Smith's novels include Oral History, Saving Grace and Fair and Tender Ladies, plus three collections of short stories. Her novel, The Last Girls, was a New York Times bestseller as well as a winner of the Southern Book Critics Circle Award.

Sea Shanties Around the Campfire

Join Jan Zimmerman for Sea Shanties and Stories around the campfire at Blueberry Cove Camp on Wednesday, August 11th at 7:00pm. Children of all ages are welcome. The camp is located on Hart's Neck Road in Tenants Harbor.

 

 

75th Anniversary Celebration at the Sail Loft

Invitation to 75th Anniversary Celebration Come join us for refreshments and stories of the Library's founding and early history at the garden and home of Betsy and Al Scott. Betsy's great aunts, Fanny and Harriet Long, are two of the founders of the Library. Jonathan Aldrich will speak about his grandmother, Eleanor Aldrich.

St George Summer Literary Series

There are five events in this year's St George Literary Series, beginning on Wednesday, July 28th and concluding on Thursday, August 26th.
