Love Unique? Blue Tulip Donations Are Raffle Ready

We were all lucky when in 2006 the owners of the Blue Tulip, Jan and Rosemary decided to join our small community.  For the past 6 years they have been growing their business in uniqueness and quality.  We are honored to accept their multiple donations to this year's business raffle fundraiser being held now through our St. George Days celebration.

In true Blue Tulip unique style, they have donated a handmade and stunningly blue and white designed table runner and napkin as well as a garden style gift basket which includes a $50 gift card for use for any of their services, lodging or merchandise.

If you are looking for a unique garden boutique filled with Maine-made gifts, garden decor or plants; if you'd like a stay at their cozy accommodations with excellent water views; or if you want landscaping services for your local home, then give Jan and Rosemary at Blue Tulip a call or stop by for a visit.  Better yet; stop by the Jackson Memorial Library before July 21st and enter for your chance to win either of their great donations and support not only your library but a great local business as well.

Tickets can be purchased individually at $2/ticket or you can get 6 tickets for $10.  Enter as often as you'd like for any and all items you like and join our community to celebrate St. George Days in Tenants Harbor, ME.

Find the Blue Tulip on Facebook: or visit them in person at 5 Blue Tulip Lane Tenants Harbor, ME 04860.

Summer Literary Series

On Wednesday, June 27 Richard Russo and Kate Russo will kick off our Summer Literary Series.  In what many perceive as a cold digital age, Pulitzer-prize winning author, Richard Russo has teamed up with his daughter, artist Kate Russo, to create Interventions, as their tribute to the printed word. What makes the book truly special is the unusual format – each story is an individually soft-bound volume with a cover illustration by Kate.

Summer Reading

The Summer Reading Program for children and teenagers kicks off tomorrow here at the Jackson Memorial Library from 2-3 PM!  Come in, register, pick up Sea Dogs tickets vouchers and your reading log, and make a dream catcher.  The summer reading program can be done by independent readers or by those being read to.  The goal is to read for at least ten hours over the whole summer.

World Oceans Day

On June 11 approximately 40 children joined Jackson Memorial Library and Herring Gut Learning Center staff to participate in World Oceans Day.  The children were able to touch live sea creatures, played an informative game of Bingo, and created a mural, which is now hanging in the stairwell of the Jackson Memorial Library.  For more information about World Oceans Day, you can look here.

Gardening on Our Minds

Tomorrow night at 7 PM we are hosting Lisa Colburn for a discussion of her new book, The Maine Garden Journal.

It's all about Maine gardening from people who love to garden! We hope you'll join us here at the library.
