Happy Halloween!

Trick or treat!  We at the Jackson Memorial Library are ready for you!  Come by in costume this afternoon for candy.  We had a lively story time this morning where we made jack'o'lanterns out of cookies and assorted toppings.  Yum yum!

Pizza Day!

We had about twelve people at our pizza event yesterday at Spruce Head Pizza.  Thank you so much for coming!  Stay tuned for even more great events from the Jackson Memorial Library.

Pizza 101

Join us at Spruce Head Pizza for a demonstration on how to prepare a pizza you can be proud of.  From making the dough through building the pizza and finally to the baking process, this will be a pizza you can show off to your friends!  This program is sponsored by the Jackson Memorial Library but will take place at Spruce Head Pizza, 20 Island Road, Spruce Head.  This program will take place on Thursday, October 25 at 4 PM.

New Computers

The library now has a MacBook Pro and a MacBook Air as additional public computers.  Upstairs we also have two iMacs now.  Many thanks to Peter Harris for his generous donation to the library.

Thinking about being a writer?

As part of our Teen Read Week festivities and as a kick-off event to National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), the Jackson Memorial Library will host a writing workshop with Beckie Weinheimer, an ALA Best Books author.  This program will take place on Friday, October 19th, from 3:30 to 4:30 at the library.  Weinheimer will work with teens on their writing and discuss how she became a writer herself.

The Boys' and Girls' Book Clubs are Back!

Today, Tuesday October 16th, is the kick-off for the Boys' and Girls' Book Clubs, sponsored by the library!  These books clubs are aimed at students in grades 5 through 7.  Tonight you come into the Town Hall lower level to have a slice of pizza, officially sign up for the program, and pick up your book!  If you can't make it tonight, let us know and we will do our best to get a copy of the book to you.
