Cyanotype Workshop for Grades 3-5

Jackson Memorial Library and The Rig, in collaboration with the MidCoast Interact Club are hosting a cyanotype workshop for children in grades 3-5 who live in St. George.  Although aimed at children in grades 3-5, we will open it up to those younger and older since space allows.  However, younger than grade 3 must be accompanied by an adult.  This program will take place at the Jackson Memorial Library on Sunday, March 10 from 1-4 PM.  Cyanotypes are a type of photography that uses the sun to help develop the film.  Pictures end up looking like the one you see pictured on the left.

Please contact the library to sign up by calling 372-8961 or emailing samantha@jacksonmemoriallibrary.org.  The Rig is a meeting place for young adults (in the 9th-12th grade) that provides opportunity for our local area youth to develop connection - with themselves, with one another and with the community located in Camden. The MidCoast Interact Club is a community based service club, sponsored by the West Bay Rotary and Camden Rotary clubs.

Brown Bag Lunch Series

THE PUZZLE OF MOTIVATION: A TED TALK

“The Puzzle of Motivation” is the subject of the Brown Bag Lunch at the Jackson Memorial Library on Friday, March 8th at noon. The hour-long program will begin with a lively TED video talk by Dan Pink, author of Drive: The surprising truth about what motivates us. After viewing the 19 minute video Port Clyde resident and entrepreneur Rob Kelley will lead a discussion of the implications of Pink’s central idea that there is a mismatch between what social science tells us and what business does. These keys to motivation have broad application for parents, teachers, bosses, employees - all of us!

TED is a collection of thousands of video presentations on riveting topics available free on the web.  If you would like to view the talk ahead of time, you can do so here.
