Launch the new Library: Activities, Lunch and Music for All Ages

Everybody in St George is invited to celebrate the launch of the new library on Saturday, October 26th from 11am to 2pm. Festivities include lunch, music and games. Come and play with how many different things can be launched including pumpkin catapults, air propelled rockets, boats and paper airplanes.

Food for Life

Come to our first Brown Bag lunch of the fall season to learn about cooking for life. This brown bag lunch includes tasting delicious healthy food. Please register by calling the library or emailing Yvonne@jacksonmemoriallibrary.org so we can make sure we have enough food for everyone!

 

 

TAG--You're It!

The Jackson Memorial Library needs your help, teens! We are starting fun after school programs and need your advice. Wouldn't you like to choose what activities you can participate in at the library? Wouldn't you like to help plan fun events? The Library wants to put on programs that appeal to YOU and YOUR interests!

Youth Programs Next Week

The library will be offering three after school programs for all ages beginning next week. The programs will be held from 3:30-5:30 PM.

On Tuesday, September 17, we will be celebrating International Dot Day.  We will be reading "The Dot" by Peter H. Reynolds and then create dot-related artworks.

On Wednesday, September 18, Alex Brasili from Herring Gut will be teaching us all about seaweed.  We'll learn about identifying different kinds of Maine seaweed and try a seaweed snack!

 

 

 

On Thursday, September 19, we will celebrate International Talk Like a Pirate Day!  Come do some pirate-y activities and games after school.  Ahoy!

Upcoming Teen Programs at the Library

The Jackson Memorial Library now hosts an after-school program for those in grades 6 and up.  You can find the basic program information here under the "Teen" section of the website.  On Wednesdays, there are special programs.  Here's a taste of some of them.

Love Working with Kids?

Jackson Memorial Library Needs Volunteers for the After School Programs!

Programs will be M-F, 3:30-5:30 PM

 

Duties will include:

  •  Engaging students in a physical activity
  • Helping prepare snacks with students
  • Providing homework guidance or facilitating a fun, creative activity!

Reaching Across the Border

John McIlwain, teacher of Buddhist meditation and Alden Josey, Jungian psychoanalyst, accompanied by Polly Armstrong, Jungian analyst, will hold the second in an annual series of conversations exploring aspects of the two systems of thought. The conversation takes place before an audience that is invitedto participate. Come listen, join in and share an evening of discovery!
